Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment, also simply called a root canal, is a common endodontic treatment at our dental office. Endodontics is the branch of dentistry committed to taking care of the inner portion of your tooth, where your root canals and dental pulp are located. Your root canals are tiny passageways that extend to the tip of your tooth roots, while your dental pulp contains important blood vessels in the tooth’s inner chamber. When this area becomes damaged, or if decay reaches it, a painful infection can occur and eventually kill the tooth.

Root canal treatment is designed to remove the infected dental pulp, clean out your root canals, and restore the integrity of your tooth. Generally, it takes two visits to our office to complete a root canal in Cleveland, Tennessee. Dr. Jeffrey A. Carson, after numbing the area with local anesthesia, will carefully make an opening to the inside of your tooth and remove all signs of infection and decay. The inner portion of your tooth is then cleaned and filled with a rubber-like material and medication. To complete the process, our gentle dentist may recommend a filling or crown. If you are experiencing severe tooth pain, you may be in need of root canal treatment and could benefit from a visit to our office.
